Our dentist can use current dental techniques to improve a variety of dental issues, including misshapen teeth. Here are some ways dentists can make your smile look picture-perfect.

Misshaped Teeth

Having misshaped teeth is not an uncommon occurrence. Teeth can become misshaped due to trauma or disease, but usually, adults have teeth that are misshaped due to genetic factors.

Misshaped teeth usually occur in your molars, premolars, or lateral incisors. While both molars and premolars are difficult to see, lateral incisors are the most visible when you talk or smile. If your misshapen tooth is in the front of your mouth, you may want to get it corrected.

How Can I Get My Misshapen Tooth Fixed?

Modern dental techniques allow dentists to quickly fix misshapen teeth. First, if you only have one misshapen tooth, you may want to discuss a crown with our dentist. Crowns not only cover and protect teeth, but they can also make a misshapen tooth look like all of your other teeth. Crowns, which are usually made of porcelain over a metal cap, can last for decades.

If you have several misshaped teeth, you may want to opt for veneers, which are porcelain coverings our dentist can make to cover all of the teeth in your jaw. Veneers, like crowns, can last for decades. Veneers are a great option if you have several issues with your teeth besides misshaping. For example, if the teeth in your top jaw are crooked, broken, or discolored, veneers are a perfect solution.

People with only one misshaped tooth can also benefit from dental bonding. Dental bonding is made of composite plastic. It is applied to your tooth as a liquid and then hardened with a light. Bonding can be placed over your misshapen tooth to make it look exactly like your other teeth. It does not last for decades, but it can be reapplied, and it is cost-effective.
